Firenze

We're here at last! We arrive a bit later and decide we are going to try and catch a bus to our hostel. The directions seem easy enough we just need to hope onto bus c-something... Hmm but they are buses everywhere and a lot start with C!! Not a good start, but I convinced Courtney that someone will know English and that we will find our way just fine. So we caught a bus after asking the bus driver and as we are watching for the stop to get off at, we pass it and just decide to get off at the next station and start walking. I don't know if we are lucky or just good but after just a short 5 minute walk we bump into our hostel. The hostel people told us that we were not going to b trying in the main part but we will have an ensuite bathroom and our own room. In a "brand new apartment" they tell us.  So we figure it was a good deal until we got there... Disappointing to say the least. We've stayed in a lot of hostels up to this point and this one probably didn't even pass inspection. Oh well, we're on Florence right!?!? Wahoo!! The next day was absolutely gorgeous and we ended up just walking the streets of Florence looking in little shops, eyeing the beautiful hand-made         jewelry and looking at the sights. We "bumped" into the Duomo and unfortunately they were doing construction on it but it was still beautiful. This was the first dome in the world... Pretty cool to say the least! Then we ended up spending some time in the gallery where David is - Michelangelo's masterpiece. Holy, is David ever huge! I feel like an ant standing beside this statue. The coolest part is that his hands, head, and feet are noticeably larger than the rest of his body to signify his intelligence, his strength, and his deFEET... Get it!?! Anyways, that was absolutely amazing! Then we stumbled upon this cute little leather shop, which of course everyone knows about the good quality leather in Italy. I went in looking for a present for my mother and we ended up walking out with an inexpensive, real leather wallet, a recommendation for a really good place to eat and a dinner reservation at one of the most prestigious local restaurants in Florence (we didn't have a phone so they called for us). So we got all dolled up and went out for dinner at this place called Aqua del 2. We decided to get all the sharing plates which consisted of 3 different salads, 5 different pastas, 3 different steaks and toppings, 4 different deserts, and of course bread with this beautiful, yummy sauce! OH MY is all I'm going to say about this entire experience. I never want to eat again because then I will lose the taste of this magnificent feast! By far, best food we have yet to have in our lives.... Sorry moms. So we ended the evening by hanging out with some cool people we met and chatting over a glass of wine. The next day we trekked through the Uffizzi Gallery and saw some real amazing paintings like the famous "annunciation" by the one and only Leonardo da Vinci for example amongst many others. You could spend a couple days in there for sure and probably an audio guide or tour-well for me anyways!! The coolest thing we did in Florence was walk up past the rose gardens and up to Michelangelo Square where you have a view of the entire city and WOW was it ever stunning. I really had to take a deep breath and pinch myself - I'm really in Italy right now! Something I never thought I would be able to do and I was doing it! We also saw many famous squares, a ton of cute little side streets, very colorful and unique buildings and the famous bridge, Ponte Vecchio.
I felt like I was leaving Florence satisfied and it was a very relaxing, unwinding type of trip rather than all that rushing to see things. Oh how I love Italy and there food! So our 4-day journey of Florence has expired and we are now ending our Italy journey in the beautiful little town of Pisa!!!
