Arriving in France

Arriving in France

Finally, the day has come! I am leaving for Paris, France for three entire months! It definitely hit me like a ton of bricks the moment I stepped out of the Metro. All I saw was beautiful, monumental buildings that were full of culture, history, and just plain beauty! We stayed in Paris for the weekend and made our way to Saint Pierre de les Nemours where we are staying for the duration of our placement. We were greeted by the deputy mayor of Nemours and Lady Mayor. We then walked to our apartment (about a 4 minute walk) where we were greeted by the Mayor, the English Education person as well as the French Education person. It was very overwhelming and there was a lot of French happening in which I only understood about 15% of it! Our apartment is quite spacious, however, we only have three bedrooms, which include two single beds and one double bed. So there is two of us sharing a double bed and eventually we will switch everything around! Lady Mayor provided us with dishes, glasses, mugs, utensils, pots, pans, mops, broom and dustpan, and some towels and drying clothes. The one thing we didn't receive was TP! First thing on our list to do... get some TP! :) Our kitchen is a little dinky kitchen with your typical stove, double sink that only heats from an ignited fire which heats the entire house, a fridge (our freezer handle broke already) and a two person table. It's definitely old fashioned yet it is very cute and fun to make our nightly dinners in! We also were provided with sheets, blankets, pillows, and such. I am very excited to get to know my roomies, the community, the school community and the country! This is going to be an amazing adventure that has only begun! Talk soon! xo

One of our nightly dinners together - mmmm pizza and salad!!

Our kitchen sink where the fire ignites to make
our water hot!
Our little two person table in our kitchen! Thank goodness
for our coffee maker!
